This Top Friends facebook application is an official application from the great people at Slide.com This application lets you put a display on your profile page with your friends thumbnail pics. We like the concept and the application quite a bit. You can easily select how many friends that you want to display: 4,8,12,16,20,24 from a drop down menu. You merely select the friends that you want in the list and then you have the ability to drag-n-drop them anywhere in the display grid.
The interesting thing about this application is that it allows you to put some level of separation between your acquaintances and your closest friends. Who will make the list…? What will they do to make the list…? Who gets offended because they are not on the list…? Who gets excited because they made the list…? There is an interesting psychological dynamic to this application that we really like.
You can easily display this Facebook Top Friends list in either the left hand or right hand column of your profile page. The application is fully integrated into facebook and works like a dream. We found no bugs whatsoever and it is very intuitive to use. It might take a little while to navigate through your list of friends if you have hundreds of friends. There is also the ability to quickly locate friends by typing the first few letters of their name and it will auto-fill a drop-down list and you can put them into the list with one click; a real time saver if you have hundreds of friends.
You also have the ability to set different levels of privacy for who sees the list, which is a very nice option.The other useful & cool thing is you can easily navigate to your friends profile right from their image on your profile page. Sweeet! You can also easily invite your friends to start using the application as well. Facebook will make you confirm these invites in blocks of 10, (but your friends are worth it 
) and you can do it rather quickly.

this is ruining facebook. it is making it into a myspace clone. what made it cool is that it was nothing like myspace. now its everything like myspace short of auto playing music (still has music though) and customizeable profile layouts and designs.
As the author of an application (http://spu.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2361616145), I can tell you that the “Very Complete” privacy settings are a standard Facebook option – every application has the exact same options – my app has it, and I haven’t done anything to enable it at all.
Just thought I’d let you know…top friends doesn’t deserve an ounce of credit for their “very complete” privacy settings, since it’s a facebook option that is on every single app.
people get pissed that its turning into myspace but you have to admit that myspace was once a great website. and they were really on to some things. facebook should be looked at as being a hybrid myspace.
