I was actually very excited to see that Real Estate Search has come to Facebook via the smart people at Nestoria. This real estate search tool is UK based and limited to the UK. This facebook application is fairly robust and allows you to search for properties that are for sale, rent, or to share. The search results are lightning fast and you get to see a summary listing information all from within facebook.

This sort of application moves toward what I expect to see on facebook; useful applications that address a specific market or user need. This is very promising to see these sorts of applications being developed. There is a huge financial upside to applications like this. I would image we could expect to see something similar for the North American Real Estate Market from the likes of Trulia or Red Fin.

You can quantify your search results by city, price range, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. Once you have search results you are able to sort by different criteria such as number of bedrooms or price. Nice. Your results are also displayed on a thumbnail map with thumbtacks showing the properties location. To see a larger map you click on it and it takes you to the Nestoria site. Also, if you find a nice property and want to share this, you can easily share the listing on facebook as a shared link.

- search the database of over 450,000 UK properties to rent and buy
- fast, clean and relevant results
- very easy to share flats with your friends or partner
- click through to Nestoria and you see all the properties on a map and users can add layers to show nearby pubs, transport, etc.

The bad thing about this application is that it takes you off of facebook to look at the more detailed property listing information. This creates a disjointed user experience and I wish they would continue forward and make the detailed results available in the facebook property. I have spoken with the CEO at Nestor and they say that they have plans for improving the application, so we just might see some cool enhancements in the future.
