eBay has launched an official application for facebook that is quite amazing. The eBay To Go Facebook Application lets you choose from several different application looks for your profile page.
This ebay application let’s you search for any keyword and returns thumbnails of items for sale on ebay. You can mouse over these images and get more details about the item such as how many bids, current bid, number of bids, number of views, time left in auction, seller rating, additional pictures, etc. When you mouse over the item picture more details relation to the item are also displayed. You can also navigate directly to the item in ebay. This is really easy to use, very intuitive and highly addicting and fun.
This is the first facebook application that we have seen that truly allows users many choices for the look/feel/functionality of how they application operates. You can choose from: Single Item, Multiple Items, Search, Seller or Store. This is Very Nice! We really like the search function “widget” from ebay. Anyone that visits your profile page can search for items for sale on ebay. Virtually all the functionality is in the application widget. The “ebay to go” application does not even use canvas/application pages in facebook except for the widget setup configuration/customization.
I wish that I could bid on items right from within facebook, but I can’t. The major shortcoming of this application is that I can’t share any cool items I find for sale with my friends, or via a post, note or mini-feed.
This application gives ebay fans a way to spread information from ebay into facebook as well as providing an interesting way to pull people back to ebay. This is good for both ebay buyers and sellers; and facebook users.
EXCLUSIVE: While speaking with Stephen Chang from eBay (he spearheaded this project for eBay) this morning he shared a few items: This application was part of a rapid development concept project from within eBay. This is the first in a series of applications for facebook that we will see. They are building a suite of flash facebook apps. They willingly took our feedback and will be improving the application to incorporate some functionality that I thought was missing. The new eBay facebook applications will most likely focus on 3 areas: Entertainment, Selling & Identity.
I have chosen to embed the eBay To Go search widget here so that you can get an idea of how it operates within facebook. Pretty cool stuff!
The user interface is very intuitive and has lot’s of functionality that ebay fans will love. You can get the facebook “ebay to go” application here.

Interesting. Congrats to the eBay team.
Have you checked out the “Favorite Things” shopping app from Yahoo!…

I’m sure my friends who built it would love to hear your comments on it.

Cool looking application. Definitely could be benficial to use widget analytic tools from http://www.clearspring.com/docs/reporting . With the widget tools provided by Clearspring you probably would be able to track what users were viewing most often in your store and what their common bid limit was for certain items and a load of other useful information.
