So as most of our readers know, I spend hours per day on facebook looking at applications and dissecting them. I also spend a great deal of time conducting business and communicating online within facebook. The one thing that most facebook users will agree on is that it would be really cool if you could search the entire internet from within facebook. Well that day has just arrived with the launch of the TWERQ Facebook Application.

I am always talking about how more useful applications will arrive and roll live on facebook and it will be easier to do what matters to users everyday online lives. It takes substantially longer to build applications beyond the 1 dimensional simple applications that currently dominate facebook. Well this is exactly one of those applications that I have been waiting for with baited breath.

The TWERQ Search Application lets me search AND see all my results from with facebook. What is really cool is that you can choose your preferences for search engine that you want to use: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Blinkx.

TWERQ is designed to save you time by…
- Searching multiple keywords and phrases simultaneously.
- Reducing the amount of typing required.
- Reducing the need to navigate to new browser windows or tabs.
- Making it easy to identify the best keywords and phases.
- Displaying clean organic results and only one advertisement.
- Collapsing descriptions to quickly skim through just page titles.
- Saving your search to continue later without starting over again
- Shortlisting results so you don’t have to search for them again.
- Collaborating with others to search for the same information.
- Easily access your information anywhere at any time.

It’s like firefox for facebook with the tabbed browsing. :) I love this easy to use feature. Tabbed searching allows you to seamlessly open and close multiple result tabs for each of your searches. Using this, you can conduct multiple searches simultaneously. It is a real time saver. The fun part is i can have a tab for each search engine and easily compare results. Nice. I really like the fact that it can save searches for me also. The user interface is very intuitive and easy to use.

I was speaking with TWERQ CEO Wesley Long recently and he was very excited about what they have been building. They have a really smart team that is building cutting edge search technology. It is important to note that TWERQ is not only a facebook application. Their search engine has been online for since September 2006 and is what I consider quite revolutionary. It really takes search to a whole new level.

You can also use what is called a TWERQ Hive; which is group collaborative search. WOW this is really compelling, groups of people can share information collectively. You can share RSS feeds, news stories, images, web sites, video, etc. Your collaboration groups can be public or private.

I do wish that they had an easier way to share my search results within facebook with a share button. I would also like to see some easier ways to add stuff to my newsfeed or mini-feed. But as a first version within facebook, I am impressed. Try it out you will not be disappointed.
