While talking to several of our clients and people that want to know about facebook software applications, I thought it only fair to let people know a little of the behind the scenes story about our facebook app that pushes our blog content directly into facebook and the team that worked with us. Our “FB Reviews Application” was initially built by my good friend Ankur Shah and his London based team at Techlightenment.

So who are these guys and what do the do? Let me just give you a quick overview of Techlightenment:

* part of a new venture created to leverage the power of social web platforms, such as Facebook
* one of the largest and fastest growing portfolios of Facebook applications across the world
* They have been contacted by companies/organizations in the following industries: Film, Politics, Telecommunications, Retail and Music
* Trying to shift paradigm away from simple and fun apps to powerful, integrated, socially enhanced applications, that leverage the true capabilities of the platform
* Trying to bring brand identity into the forefront in Facebook, in a socially sensitive manner
* Deep understanding of Facebook, its capabilities and its marketing potential
* Working on creating and then developing a field of ’social analytics’ - STEALTH at the moment (cool stuff that I have had a peek at)
* Not just a development house; they also focus on strategy, innovation, implementation and fast turn around

They also built Friend Insulter which I find quite hysterical.

A few notes from Ankur during a recent discussion:
“The surge in interest in Facebook recently has been helped by the launch of the Facebook platform. Aside from the vast amount of small, and in all honesty pointless applications, companies are starting to see the value in promoting their brand and products and services within the 32m+ user service.” We see eye to eye on this key business issue.

Techlightenment is at the forefront of developing more serious, brand-focused applications. Having already had interest from companies in the telecommunications, film, political and internet startup sectors, Techlightenment is rapidly becoming the place to go to get serious applications developed in the European market.

From their early application, SearchTime!, which gained coverage for putting Google into Facebook (albeit in a limited way), to the highly viral and acclaimed application for Nestoria (which we covered a while back), Techlightenment are proving that Facebook can be harnessed by business if done in the right way.

The company was formed by Ankur Shah (a former Criminal Barrister, who not so long-ago launched Contactify.com) and Gi Fernando, a 5 year veteran of the development industry, whose team designed virtually all of Inside Track’s systems. The team has both breadth and depth of experience, both in development and of harnessing technology and innovation. Bottom Line: Smart Guys that “get it”. So thats the story of how the FB Reviews Application was launched quickly and a little about the guys that we worked with.
