Facebook is the New Multi-Media Business Communication Tool

Facebook has many use cases. One use case that I happen to like is using it as a new media rolodex, listening device and broadcast tower for my business contacts.
I now get to know more about my business contacts. I can see info such as: their email, website, things that they like, applications that they use, their friends. etc. This actually let’s me discover more information about my friends in a way that did not exist before. I can interact with them through specific applications and actually become more engaged.
I can see which groups they belong to and this allows me to understand what they are into. I can also get a better visual understanding of their life via pics and videos. I also have the ability to see what they are sharing; this helps me climb into their head more efficiently. This allows me to listen in a new way. What happens when I can listen differently? I can respond & interact differently and in a more relevant and timely fashion. (big value of the facebook platform)
I can also see (visually) whom they are connected to and their network (if they are my friend on facebook). This is invaluable information and much more appealing to me than Linked-In. I like the fact that I have to take the initiative for making contact versus having to ask a friend to introduce me. I always hate asking people to introduce me (Linked In). That is the reason that I have never used Linked-In in that fashion.
Once I am connected to (friends) with someone that is on facebook, I can do really neat things to connect more deeply. I personally like to actually send video emails though facebook. Just short ones that are under 2 minutes usually. But I think it makes the level of communication much more personal. Multi media communication technology is made easy with facebook; all you need is a web cam.
More on this subject in future posts. But I just wanted to share this today. How do you think facebook changes communication?

Our brand, our personal identity, what we bring to a business will always be at the core of any career or business we undertake. Yep, I agree. With you too, on the point about learning to listen. If we listen it’s amazing what we learn…
Your brand is how customers feel about you..Your personal identify is how people react on your communication. In this new media or you can say MEDIA age you have to do your branding in Nth dimensions. Well yes, anybody can do communication by creating a page/profile on facebook or continuously posting tweets on twitter but you can not do effective communication without having in-depth knowledge about social media engagement. You need to learn the ability to spread your story and nudge people down the sales funnel at zero incremental cost.
If you don’t like change you are going to like irrelevance even less.
