Sticky Notes
Did you know that the first Post-It note was sold 30 years ago? And that the initial launch was a failure? But fortunately for all of us, 3M tried again, and it’s hard to remember what life was like without them. Now they’ve come to Facebook in the form of the StickyNotes application from J-Squared Media.
The beauty of this application stems from its simplicity. When you want to send a sticky note to someone else (or put one on your own profile screen), you simply select the color of the note, the color of the ink, the font, and type a message up to 140 characters.

You can then preview the note, address and send it, or re-edit it.

When you start typing in the recipients box, the application will match friends names for you. You can also indicate that you want to add the note to your own profile, which looks like this:

The system displays the most recent note you’ve received, and you can opt to see all the Notes you’ve both sent and received. You can also delete any sent or received note.

And that’s all there is to StickyNotes. You can also see which friends have the app and invite others. You can view others’ sets of StickyNotes like you can your own. There is an FAQ and lively discussion board where you can make suggestions for the developers.
The one glaring omission is the ability to create and send private notes. Hopefully this will become available soon.
Overall, StickyNotes works because it’s simple and visually fun. It implements a familiar metaphor neatly, so it’s intuitive to use. Give it a try as a more visually creative way of sending those pokes and other short messages!
