I am an IM kind of guy. I use IM to talk to a lot of my friends and business associates. I can multi task and get quick answers to questions that I have, or just to chat a little with my friends. An increasing number of them are on facebook and the number is growing daily.

I typically use Skype and MSN for IM. Well, now that I have actually used the FriendVox IM application I am hooked and it just might become the best way to keep connected to my facebook connections. The Friendvox IM application is not public just yet. Friendvox is a brand new IM designed specifically to leverage and connect you into the facebook ecosystem and your facebook friends. Here is the best part… there is no software to download; it is entirely web based. Nice!

The Friendvox Instant Messenger is not an application that resides within facebook; rather it is a web based application that leverages facebook information and brings it to the surface. It also interacts with facebook and shares information back to facebook. You can instantly see which of your facebook friends are logged into the IM. You can also see when you have new Inbox messages, Friend Requests, Pokes, Event and Group Invites.

I was having a great phone conversation with the Ankur Shah, Director of London based Techenlightenment who are developing this application. They are the people behind the wildly popular Bob Dylan Application that we covered and reviewed here first online (Techcrunch does not break all tech stories ). They also did one of my favorite facebook applications called socialistics.

We have also been IM chatting using the product and I really like it a lot. What an efficient way to easily have all of my facebook friends at my fingertips.

* No installation (means not even necessary to add it to your Facebook account as an application)
* No registration (use your FB login - entirely secure and through
FB’s site)
* No download (entirely browser-based)
* One-click opens up chat and you’re off
* Fully integrated with FB, but entirely external
* Browser based - means you can even use it at work
* They are trying to get an RIA version out asap - built in Adobe AIR
* Adding in many interesting features (change status on the fly, etc.), built around the fundamental premise and simplicity of IM
* They are anticipating launching next week (I hope they can pull it off)
