Facebook Monetization of Apps: Peanut Labs for Facebook
Published by Rodney Rumford October 18th, 2007 in Facebook, Facebook Applications.
How do facebook application owners make money? Here is one very unique way that facebook apps can utilize a monetization model. While at the community next facebook conference, I had the opportunity to interview the founders of PeanutLabs.com. I really like the solution that they have for facebook applications.
They have built a very interesting network for doing research. The bottom line here is app owners have their users fill out a quick survey (via an iframe integration page) to earn virtual currency. The app owner makes real currency(money). This model actually has proven to work quite well in facebook apps. Users appear to not be opposed to filling out the survey to earn virtual currency. Popular facebook apps such as fluff friends have used peanut labs solution. The app works really well if you have engaged users.
So if you have a popular facebook application, you should look at how their solution could help you monetize your facebook application. Watch th 5 minute video with the 3 founders of Peanut Labs as they discuss how it all works. They even throw out some pretty impressive numbers.

They don’t seem like they understand Facebook that well.
Awesome!
They may be good, but I found a few problems while testing, with little support:
1. Test surveys I made did not show up on my accounts stats page
2. They did not respond to this issue
So I would say it’s probably a good idea, but needs better implementation by PeanutLabs before I can add their services to my site.
