I blogged about this Facebook 101 class that is being offered at Stanford a month back. I was impressed with the idea back then. But I am even more impressed after having met several more of the bright minded students that are in this class. All I can say is watch out!

I have had discussions with some of them about what they are creating and applications that they are building. I strongly suspect that several new companies will spring from the participants of this class. The bottom line here is that facebook apps allow you to be creative and look at solving problems and offering solutions in a very different & potentially disruptive way.

The path to success/failure is compressed for new startups and ideas. Experimentation of new disruptive ideas can be a great thing. The facebook platform facilitates just this sort of experimentation. What is the future of facebook apps? This is exciting stuff my friends. ;)

See some television coverage of the Facebook 101 Stanford class. Enjoy!

Thanks, Rodney - we’re really exciting about the next 5 weeks of this class.

You’re right…we’ve found 85 of the smartest, most motivated students at Stanford and put them in one room, 6 hours a week - clearly something cool is going to come out of that! (And it already has.)

    Hey Rodney -

We’re applying much of what we’re learning in the class to Graffiti ( http://apps.facebook.com/graffiti/ ) which will only make it better. It’s great to see how far the application has come since you first reviewed it ( http://facereviews.com/2007/06/02/facebook-graffiti-widget-review/ ).

We’ve also launched an experimental application for the class named Send HOTNESS! You may want to take a look at it at http://apps.facebook.com/sendhotness/

Finally, you can see the full list of applications here: http://venturebeat.com/2007/11/01/stanfords-facebook-developer-class-shows-off-applications/
