Facebook business applications. the pieces to the business puzzleFacebook Advertising Models Just Unmasked. Social Actions + Content = Social Ads. Facebook has just announced within the last hour some major changes and new ad types that will go live this evening. This is really big news as some details of these new ad types and some of the surrounding services have been leaked over the last week.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg today introduced Facebook Ads, an ad system for businesses to connect with users and target advertising to the exact audiences they want. Through Facebook Ads, these users can now learn about new businesses, brands and products through the trusted referrals of their friends.

It looks as though these new ad types will really leverage people social connections within facebook. It will allow very specific targeting based upon criteria such as age, location, activities, political views, interests, etc… If you have seen the facebook flyers pro advertisiing i would imagine that it is similar.

“Everything you have seen here is launching tonight.” They are kicking this off with 40 partners (including Blockbuster, CBS, Chase, The Coca-Cola Company, The New York Times, Sony Pictures, Verizon, Dove, and Zazzle). “This is something we have been working on for a long time. It is really good to share it with you guys.”

The interesting note is that there looks to be facebook apps residing within sponsored pages… Could this be another revenue model for app owners?

We will provide more detailed insights as we have a chance to look at what they have announced. Hopefully more blog posts on this facebook advertising news will follow late this evening.

At first pass it sounds like they may have just dropped a few more pieces of the facebook advertsiing and revenue model in place.

TechCrunch has been live blogging the Facebook Advertising Model anouncement from NYC. great job guys.

I’m confused. I’ve had a few ads disapproved which didn’t seem to conflict with their guidelines. But if you look at some of their ads from the big players (e.g. the flashy ads with the buttons that go to some scammy cell offers and have popups) they are much worse but seem to get away with it.
