A few excerpts and quotes from the facebook article:
“There is nothing like it right now,” said Jeremiah Owyang, a senior analyst at Forrester Research. “Yahoo and Google sell ads by keywords. Facebook is now selling them based on people and their friends.”

“It sounds potentially quite far reaching,” said Andrew Frank, an analyst at the research firm Gartner. “I would say it’s innovative.”

“Though it remains to be seen how Facebook users will react to Facebook Ads, it’s likely they won’t resist, said Rodney Rumford: publisher of FaceReviews.com “It they can do this and not pollute my experience, I think it will be very powerful,”.

The bottom line here is most everyone agrees that this could indeed be very compelling. I also happen to think that this just might be the goose that could lay the golden egg for facebook revenue. After playing with the system since it went live just a few hours ago; I am very impressed. ;)

We shall have to wait and see how well the ads perform; until then the jury is out.
