Radical Buy Challenges eBay: There is a new facebook application called Radical Buy. It allows users to list and sell items on facebook. The interesting thing here is it offers commissions to people that sell the item for you. This is brilliant and will really tap the social network of facebook. This is a really cool idea that I think many facebook users will take to.
Radical Buy is a cool way to shop and sell merchandise on facebook. The Radical Buy facebook application allows users to buy and sell items directly on Facebook. Sell items you own or even sell other users items and receive commission. Best of all, there is no merchant account needed to buy or sell (you can use paypal, google checkout, and several others).
I can already see all the starving students, people bored at work, stay at home moms, etc. looking at items and finding people to sell the items to so that they can earn some extra cash. Kaaaching!
Anyone can act as an “agent” for any item and list it for sell on their profile page and make the commission if they get the item sold. Your friends will also see any items that you have listed or have acted as an agent for. Your item listings can also automatically show up in the facebook marketplace. The application totally engages the social graph and connections that exist in facebook. These guys get it.
This elegant and disruptive little feature is what will allow this facebook application to challenge ebay. This application is the brain child of Mark Cuban. (he invited me to install the app.
) Radicalbuy.com is one of his new startups. There is more coming at the site in the future. They have launched first with a facebook application which is quite telling as to how they view the power of the social graph of facebook.
I spoke with the team at Radical Buy for a while today and I am very impressed with what they have built. I met them a few months back when they started down the road to building this app. When people ask me about how a facebook application can be valuable beyond the lightweight apps like food fight; I will hold this facebook application up as a shining example.
You can list items by category and add a description, commission level you are willing to pay, add up to 6 photos and keyword tags. The usability of this app is very clean and straight forward. Once you use it, you will see how easy it is. I published a listing in just a few minutes (3 to be exact).
I mentioned a few months back that the next eBay type of business just might come from within facebook. This is an audacious goal for sure; but this application potentially has what it takes once it gets some traction. This application makes the ebay facebook app look soft by comparison.
They have also taken the step that all smart businesses on facebook should take. They have added a Facebook Pages Page.
You can install the radical buy facebook application here
Here is how it works

DAMN, that’s so awesome! The bar has been set. I’m sure Ebay will try and follow suit, but will it be to late? Hmm…..
My predictions on first look:
Radical Buy will be a wonderful way to leverage the power of personal referral in selling items online.
Referrers will earn commissions for their efforts, while keeping control of what they recommend.
Sellers will find that Radical Buy’s easy to use interface, integration with Facebook Marketplace and powerful promotional model changes and improves the game of online selling exponentially.
Buyers will find cool stuff at great prices.
What’s not to love?
I thought useful apps were banned from Facebook?!
i started a company http://www.darmik.com…that does exactly what radical buy is doing….i contacted mr. cuban about it not more than a year ago…….i see that he liked the idea….great execution….but thats easy when you have the plans…..it also not very to creative to take close to the exact ideas of others and then to call them your own….
Yes. It will be interesting to see if this is the Killer App that kills eBay.
Too cool. Ebay is practically dead.
It has been several months since this review. I am wondering whether you know of anyone who has actually sold anything via Radical Buy?
I have had some luck selling a few pieces of art that I have - also earned some commission on a friend’s TV set.
love the widget - take your items anywhere - pretty cool.
