Google Helps Facebook SEO Applications
0 Comments Published by Rodney Rumford December 7th, 2007 in Facebook, Facebook Applications.Google Is now indexing the Facebook Application Pages. This was quietly announced a few days back and no one mentioned anything, so I thought that we should take a look at this. These facebook application pages were indexed by Google on December 5.
It is worthy to note that the Entire Content of the “Facebook About Application Page” is actually indexed. This includes the reviews section of the page as well. So now I can just hear all the SEO types saying “optimize, your application page for SEO”. The bottom line here is that you will see some results organically in the search engines for your application pages. But realistically, this is a minuscule percentage compared to the people that are actually in facebook already and looking for your type of application.
If you already have a facebook account and are logged in it will take you directly into the facebook application join page.
Also, people that end up joining facebook this way will have effectively no social graph connections. On the positive side when they first join facebook you will be the first application they have chosen. Nothing wrong with that. By opening the application database of over 10,000 applications facebook just created at least 10,000 new points of search engine discovery. Brilliant!
Notice how they invite you to sign up for facebook. They show you the “About” page and give you a green button to join.

Notice that they have the app information at the top of the join sheet

Sign up for facebook. Google organic results

Facebook App Page. Google organic results
