how to get 16 million facebook application users How to Get 16 Million Facebook Application Users? The answer is simple. Run a facebook class at Stanford. Facebook Class instructor Dave McClure reviews the amazing results from the class. You will see that the lesson here is multiple iterations of applications and a 2 pronged focus on virality and engagement of the facebook applications.

My Thoughts: Constant testing, measurement, metrics and application iterations are key to success on the facebook platform. Design the facebook application, wire frame the application, build the application. Iterate, test, measure, repeat this cycle until you have no sleep, can’t drink any more Monster/Red Bull and hit 100,000 installs. Take a quick 4 hour power nap and start all over again until you hit 1 Million installs. ;)

Dave McClure also covers his infamous Pirate Model for customer life cycle: AARRR
Acquisition
Activation
Retention
Referral
Revenue

Collectively the Stanford facebook applications numbers were as follows:
Over 16 million installs in 10 weeks.
~ 925,000 Daily Engaged Users

The Facebook Application Install Stats were as follows:

* 5 apps had 1 Million + installs
* 10 apps had 100K+ installs
* 20 apps had 5K+ installs

The Facebook Engagement Stats were as follows:
* 6 apps had 100K daily users
* 10 apps had 10K daily users
* 20 apps had 500+ daily users

Total Valuation per Adonomics numbers = ~10 Million Dollars

Enjoy the Video. Dave is a great speaker and very knowledgeable person in this space. He also organizes and runs the Graphing Social Conference; which I had the pleasure of presenting at a few months back. I will also be speaking at the upcoming event in March in San Diego.

    Interesting column and stats. Rodney do you know if the students were cross promoting their apps within their apps. An app with 1 million users or 5 with 1 million can obviously push a lot of installs to others so I was just wondering if you know if this was something they did (or were allowed to do)

    There was some cross promotion; but to what extent i am not sure. I do know that there was a shared banner to raise awareness if I am not mistaken.

    Possibly one of the student readers can shed some light on this.
