Google Profiles Show Up On Google Maps
Published by Rodney Rumford December 17th, 2007 in Facebook, OpenSocial. If you decide to set up a Google Profile. Be aware of where your data just might end up being visible online. Like Google Maps for example. While I can see the advantages of this data being shared; I wonder if the users are aware of the consequences of this data being brought to the surface when they created their Google profile?
Are there privacy issues here with Google Profiles? Quite possibly. I have yet to see the privacy controls on this product yet as they are only rolling google profiles out to limited users. Is this worse than Facebook Beacon?

I found my name on a search for Facebook in google pointing to one of the Facebook aps and none to Google Maps even if I was one of the first hundred to use it ! (may be because i’m a Canadian)
I also don’t see any of the “EU Safe Harbor Participation” in Google TOS and also this for a foreigner like me “By using Facebook, you are consenting to have your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States.”
