Since it is nearing the end of the year and everyone is feeling reflective; I thought that this would be an appropriate time to reflect on facebook and draw some fun/interesting analogies to this mountain wingsuit video.

This video is of some insane base jumpers in the swiss alps with mountain wingsuits. They actually fly and do things that are mentally hard to envision until you see it. When you see it; your mind is blown. You can’t stop thinking about what you have witnessed. It makes you rethink what is possible. Gravity is their biggest challenge; yet this is what makes what they do possible.

Facebook has 59 Million Points of Gravity (users) that propel them.

Facebook is like a team of these mountain wingsuit base jumpers:
Three guys leaped off the edge, people said they were crazy.
They are flying at warp speed.
There is calculated risk.
They could fail if they do not execute properly.
Buzzing the wall and getting sent into a spin is somewhat like the Beacon fiasco.
They challenge what we thought was possible.
They are buzzing us and challenging the way we think (communicate).
They go where they are looking.
They are doing things many people have dreamed about for a long time.
They figured out what it took to make the dream a reality.
The velocity is insane.
They are very innovative.
Some say it is a fad.
Some say they are crazy and will die.
I watch in amazement as they execute.
Some Facebook employees are adrenalin junkies.
It is fun to watch. I can’t take my eyes off of it. Thanks Facebook!

p.s. My love of the facebook jetman application, innovation and flying forced me to make this post.
