The Entire Facebook 60 Minutes Video. I wanted to share with you a few of the Facebook 60 Minutes highlights:

Facebook is changing the way we communicate with our friends
Facebook is changing politics
Is Facebook a threat to Google?: Charlene Li of Forrester Research Says Yes.
Facebook turned down 1 Billion offer from Yahoo.
15 Billion Valuation is ridiculous say some analysts
Facebook needs to find a way to generate revenue
Beacon makes facebook less commercial
Beacon has it’s problems
Zuckerberg sleeps on a mattress on the floor in a 1 bedroom apartment
Mark failed as a leader on beacon. The fact that he did it at all was wrong says Kara Swisher of All Things Digital (I happen to think he was right for doing it; how he responded to criticism was where he possibly went wrong)
Facebook will not likely go public in 2008

Here is the entire facebook video segment. Running time = 12:32. You only have to watch 1 CBS 30 second commercial. Enjoy!

Hey Rodney - curious to hear your thoughts on the interview. My quick hits are:

    - Wow he still looks young, but I think technology turns the totem pole upside down and the people who are generally at the bottom of the “power” pole are most skilled with the newest tech. Point in case.

    - So 2-3 years till public? Sounds like it is on the radar

    - Is the Beacon Diamond story real or is it an urban myth like poisoned Halloween food - have you ever had a beacon thing show up in your feed? I don’t think I have, but maybe no one I know buys online. Can someone research the diamond story to find out if it is really real.

    - Does he really do the coding still? Seems like as CEO he would be busy with navigating the boat rather than worrying about the engine oil.

    Tom,

Beacon really happened. I know both Yelp and Kiva make/made use(d) it and I still occasionally get little blasts in my feed.

What was smart about the way Beacon worked was that it was an option made available after a transaction occurred, this way even if I chose not to participate, they still had my money.

    1 for their UI designer.

Very interesting interview. 1 Billion is a lot to offer but all of Facebook is worth a lot more than 1 Billion. Facebook will not take over Google though. Google is the king of the internet essentially.
