Facebooks Data Team: Have you ever wondered how facebook collects, stores, sorts and handles data analysis for their site?
Well then this is your video. Jeff Hammerbacher from Facebooks Data Team gives a very informative presentation at Yahoo about how facebook does this very challenging task. We are talking about Petabyte and Terabyte size analysis. This is tough stuff to do.
The facebook data team consists of 15 team members. They are focused on 2 key segments: Infrastructure & Insight. Facebook is very much a product driven company; so having analysis on how their products perform is critical. He tells some interesting stories and shares what has been happening at facebook from a data analysis perspective. He has been with facebook for about 2 years.
He also discusses the challenges & priorities that his team faces. Engineers and Business users within facebook’s internal team have very different needs. They are also hiring someone for a user experience lab. That would be a challenging position and pretty exciting. I love these analytics guys; this is the stuff under the hood that really helps in the longterm success of any enterprise.
The video is over an hour long and will play really well with IT and Technical types. This is great content. Enjoy!
