Just Three Words brings creative gaming to Facebook Platform

In my previous post, I expressed a considerable amount of disdain for the current state of Facebook applications. Jason Rubenstein responded to the post suggesting that I take a look at Just Three Words, a game made by his company Scoob & Gecko. Always on the lookout for apps that don’t suck, I decided to give it a go and I must confess, I rather like what I found.
Just Three Words isn’t exactly a revolutionary idea, many similar games exist outside of Facebook, but, to the best of my knowledge, it’s the first of its kind to setup shop within Facebook. It’s unique from much of the other Platform “entertainment” in that it actually stimulates users by compelling them to apply some creativity.
The game functions on very basic rules. Someone creates a story with a title and then writes the first three words. Players follow-up by adding their own three words and so on and so on, taking the story in crazed and unexpected directions.
Games can be set to friends only or made public, which adds a bit more variety. It’s rather fun, but I can see it getting a bit boring if you spend too much time with it. All-in-all though, I reckon it’s deserving of props based on the initiative that it’s taken in taking Facebook gaming in a different direction.
