Google OpenSocial Video Interview
Published by Rodney Rumford March 6th, 2008 in Google, MySpace, OpenSocial.
Google OpenSocial Interview with Platform Developer Advocate Patrick Chanezon. Google rarely does video interviews so I was very excited to have the opportunity to capture this interview with Patrick.
Too bad I didn’t keep the camera running for the next 1.5 hours while we continued to chat about all the opportunities for businesses, brands and developers.
The Google OpenSocial Platform Standard is enabling social applications to be developed within special “containers” that will help to facilitate distribution to multiple social networks. 18 Social Networks/Partners have embraced OpenSocial such as Orkut, Hi5 & Myspace, Bebo, Oracle, Salesforce & LinkedIn have joined the party. The standard is extensible which is really nice. Facebook is still the big holdout.
I have to believe that there is a lot of really cool stuff that is coming. I can’t wait to see what the developer community comes up with. The time is NOW to start developing on version 0.7 OpenSocial and get familiar with what can be done. You can also check out the 2000 member Google OpenSocial for Business Group on facebook. Check out the video interview here for some additional insights.
