Facebook quietly launched a new feature that connects you with people you may know. It was a soft launch, but the implementation is pretty effective. It can be found in the Friend Finder section of the service.

Like the similar feature popularized by FriendFeed, Facebook draws on mutual connections between friends. It’s fairly accurate so far as nearly everyone its suggested are people who I actually do know, or probably should know based on their connections to me.

All-in-all, I’m quite fond of features like this and I’m glad to see Facebook taking the initiative to connect you to potentially new contacts. It’s an important element of social networking that I feel is sorely lacking.
