Twitter has struggled in the past with some scaling and reliability issues. They are growing at exponential rates and this is a problem for many high growth companies. people are freaking out. This is good that people are freaking out. Why? it shows that there is a new communication medium that people love and they are changing the way that they communicate. When that gets taken away from people they feel like they are choking and can’t breathe.
Twitter had a planned outage and upgrade Saturday night. Everything went well, but they just may have introduced another problem.
I suspect that they will have it resolved soon enough. but the point of this post is not to slam twitter, rather quite the opposite. I know they are running around like maniacs right now trying to fix it.
This also means means many of the third party apps that use the twitter API might be challenged as well.
