Goundswell. You Must Read This Book
Published by Rodney Rumford April 16th, 2008 in Branding, business, social media.
Goundswell is a new book by Charlene Li & Josh Bernoff from Forrester Research. Rating:

While attending the Forrester Marketing Forum conference on Social Media I had the opportunity to interview The authors of this book: Groundswell “Winning in a world transformed by social technologies”.
This book is a must read for any brand manager, marketing officer and dare I say any business person. The book has amazing insights, stories and the future of these new social technologies and how they are impacting business and our daily lives.
This might prove an eye opening read for people that think social technologies are a fad. It will be an eye opening whack on the side of the head moment for many people that think that these social technologies will not/ can not impact their business.
Businesses have great opportunities to leverage these technologies & be blindsided by a groundswell that could negatively impact their business if they choose to ignore the quickly evolving social ecosystems of facebook, myspace, twitter, etc… Robert Scoble and I discussed these issues a few weeks back.
My company has been building and engaging with these technologies for a number of years and I could not put the book down, it is a great read. Find out how they came up with the name for the book. You can read their blog here.
This book is not about technology per se. It is about the business impact of these technologies. What are people saying about your brand? Leave your thoughts in the comments area. Be Great!

Rodney,
I am in violent agreement! Groundswell may be the best business book of the year. Not only is it a must read, but a very interesting and easy read. This is no stuffy, big idea book. It just flows. And reading about all of my twitter friends in the book makes it even more exciting!
Rodney — it was a blast meeting you. We’re delighted with your comments (and Warren’s) and we’d love to expand the discussion with anyone who’s doing business strategy for social technologies.
If you or Warren are sitting around bored some day and went Amazon and typed in a review, I promise I wouldn’t hold it against you . . .
Thanks for jumping in Josh. I will head over to Amazon when i have a minute.
Glad you liked the review. Seriously, this just might be one of the best business books of 2008 (and I read about 1 every month). Keep up the great work!
You should put the interview in your blog.
Cheers!
Josh, your comments here show you follow your own advice!
I guess I am drinking too much of the Groundswell kool-aid. I’ll write a review. I also asked a few questions on your Mzinga webinar the other day too. Uh oh, I’m turning into one of those groupie critics you described leaving blog comments all over the web!
