The bright guys behind twitter discuss quite a bit about twitter. They share some great info about how users engage with the service and some of the different use cases. I love twitter and their smarts in opening up the API to allow people do other interesting things with the service.

The average user tweets 3 times a day, about as many meals as they eat. 
There are many users that use it far more than that. The use cases for twitter are enormous. This service is quickly on it’s way to becoming ubiquitous and a utility that millions of people can’t live without.

I use Twiiter and like it, but I just don’t see how it can be sustainable long term to be a standard tool that millions use on the web. I think it is always one Facebook tweak away from dying. I think when Facebook adds the IM system that will eat away at Twitter a little. I just don’t see it long term.
