Google Apps & Salesforce Apps = Business Apps
Published by Rodney Rumford April 17th, 2008 in Google, business.Google Apps & Salesforce Apps = Business Apps. Eric Schmidt from Google discusses the connection of Google apps and Saleforce.com
New and interesting opportunities now exist for companies to build exciting business apps. Now try to imagine that layered on the social graph and you can see some really amazing business apps with social components. Imagine being able to see what your clients are saying outside of salesforce and Google. It could be pretty compelling to bring some of your clients social behaviors into this type of environment.
This is in the very early stages but does indeed show some great promise. I can immediately imagine over 10 use cases for social applications built on these platforms.
“Once Salesforce’s data and our data are linked together, a whole generation of apps will be built on top of it,” Schmidt said. Salesforce.com users will now be able to integrate Gmail, GTalk instant messenger and other Google functions into their sales tracking records.
Google’s CEO is smiling so much in this interview that I suspect that Goolge is looking at Salesforce as a potential acquisition opportunity beyond just the current existing partnership.

Hey Rodney;
I play with Salesforce at work (on occasion) and I really think that any integration is good integration at this point. I deal with clients on so many mediums (Facebook, IMs, …) and no one can really afford to ignore those lines of communications as part of the “client file”.
Countdown to Faceb… I mean OpenSocial integration…
