Facebook IM Live Everywhere

Facebook has officially launched their instant message system to the entire network of 70+ million users starting 2 hours ago. Facebook started rolling the IM service out slowly to selected networks starting April 6.
Look at the bottom of your browser page while on facebook to see the IM product and settings. Happy Facebook Chatting.

I wonder when and if they are going to bring chat to their iPhone version of the site. That would be awesome!
Why, oh why did they not think to include a way to disable the IM interface wart? Having it floating down at the bottom of the screen is really distracting and annoying. And honestly, I’ve got SMS, MSN, Google Talk and Yahoo! I neither want/need yet another IM client. I’m sure there are people who love it, but I just want to turn it off altogether.
