Twitter Adds Location and More to API
Published by Rodney Rumford April 30th, 2008 in twitter.Twitter updates the location attribute of the authenticating user, as displayed on the side of their profile and returned in various API methods. This is good news as now you can do quite a few additional things around city locations.
It is not geobased but rather city based. This is not normalized, geocoded, or translated to latitude/longitude currently.
This adds a whole new context for using twitter and additional usefulness and use cases. They have also added some additional functionality to their API such as delivery device and some blocking functionality a few hours ago.
You can get more details of the 5 new changes twitter added here: http://groups.google.com/group/twitter-development-talk/web/api-documentation
