Twitter Down? Have a Laugh
Published by Rodney Rumford May 24th, 2008 in twitter.I can tell you that Twitter outages in the last week have been bad. Frustratingly bad. According to their blog they are going through a process to make twitter have the reliability of a true communications platform (which it was not designed for). They have been a bit more forthcoming about their struggles on their blog this week. That is a good thing.
Obviously twitter has brand fans (otherwise people would not take the time and effort to create these images). But their brand is seriously being hurt. This is not a 1 time outage issue. This is a consistent reliability problem that appears randomly across the platform. Twitter users are slowly reaching the end of their tolerance for these outages. Twitter needs to get these reliability issues resolved asap before someone comes along and kicks their butt to the technology curb (friendfeed?).
You know it is not a good thing when there is a room on your competitors site (friendfeed) called twitter is down.
We thought that the twitter fans would enjoy these fake 404 error parody message pages. Twitter; not so much.
Have a good holiday weekend and a smile. Credit goes to Kevin Bondelli for creating this set of funny images.

Your images are very amusing, especially the Rick Astley one.
I think Twitter users are more loyal than you think. It’s not a brand-loyalty, it’s a community loyalty, one that’s very hard to organize and move cohesively. It makes a lot more sense to stay on Twitter and wait out the downtime than self-impose a multi-month-long downtime on yourself by switching to a new service.
