this looks excellent, i seem to check fb much more frequesntly on iphone than the web these days and have been a bit disappointed with the app experience compared to the new web UI. Obviously fb is on the ball re: iphone - any news on a launch date?

As a developer I have to say I'm a little worried on the emphasis being placed on iphone-specific apps; one of the great things about the web is you *don't* need to make a new version of your app for each advice; all you need to target is browsers. With multitouch Safari and the initial empahsis on web apps, it looked like iphone was going to come play in the open web, but now it looks like opinion is shifting back the other way.

Is performance so much better with a native app that it's worth giving up all the benefits of a web app? Or is the FB app performing some kind of deeper integration w/ the iphone that a web app can't?
