Facebook Does Not Want Your Blog Comments Public
Published by Rodney Rumford October 10th, 2008 in Facebook.I have been a fan of facebook for a very long time. I have championed their brand, products and services. However they are breaking a cardinal rule that we have been preaching to our clients for the last 5 years: be transparent. The facebook blog is a way for them to disseminate information to their readers of their blog. It is also a way to solicit feedback. They have a comment form box; but when you enter your comment it get’s sent into the black hole of facebook. Never once have I heard a response from any of my thoughtful comments.
If they would make the comments public then they have an opportunity to get a real dialog going with their blog readers. Many times comments build on each other and help provide deeper insights to the issue at hand in the blog post. There is great value in listening to people’s comments (I think they do read them all). But making the comments public is actually more valuable and could help facilitate better feedback and deeper insights. They are missing the boat on this one.
Another side benefit of making the comments public is that I can meet other blog commenters who have expressed an opinion on something that I am interested in and they might become a personal connection and friend. I thought facebook was supposed to be about sharing information.
I have expressed my concerns before but never in a dedicated blog post. My patience has worn out and I am just plain frustrated, annoyed and feeling like they are not willing to open up. Hence this post in an effort to get them to open up and make the blog comments public. Anyone at facebook listening? Please leave a comment on this issue below and spread the word. Thanks!

I didn’t even know you could leave comments on those posts. Agreed - bad or good PR, it’s good to vent those out in the open.
Jesse,
Until only recently (about 5 months ago if my memory serves me as correct) you could not even send a comment to the writer of the blog post.
McDonalds also closed the comments on their US blog and received an angry reaction from the blogosphere! Facebook should be ashamed of themselves especially as they are a social media site - shame, on them! Will spread the word!
I just recently discovered your Blog and appreciate you sharing your bout with facebook games with the world. but this site also search best knowledge facebook games.
