Dear Abby,
You have grown outdated, fuddy, slow and 1 dimensional. I have decided to leave you for a new facebook application called Agonymous.

Agonymous allows users to submit personal problems anonymously to their social graph and have their friends compete to give the best advice. Before Agonymous, people would either share a problem with their friends, family and work colleagues etc, or, to avoid ridicule or embarrassment they would anonymously contact an advice column or an online message board.

Agonymous merges these two scenarios together to create a new, more effective solution – receive the best advice from those who you value the most, but keep your secret safe by not revealing your identity.

To keep the application engaging, users compete with each other to give the best advice. There is a scoring system based on advice feedback, a leaderboard, awards and character evolution based on feedback received. For example, if you continually post funny advice, your character will eventually evolve into a clown.

The character system is particularly interesting as it encourages users to fulfill a certain role in a self fulfilling prophecy sort of way – that is, users who are mostly regarded as funny will consistently post funny advice to maintain their character. This ensures that the person submitting the problem receives a well balanced set of mixed responses (response categories are caring, clever, funny or nasty).

I really like this facebook application because it can be quite a useful way for you to gather advice from your peers (or the entire social graph) in an efficient manner. You can do quite a bit of sorting with the application for easily finding topics to comment on. This application is quite robust in the functionality that it offers. Give it a try, and get some crowdsourced feedback on your questions and say goodbye to dear Abby.
