Facebook Excel Reports for Advertisers

In another baby step forward in their advertising offering facebook has just launched exportable Excel or CSV reports today.
Advertisers can now exports the associated report for the following 3 types of data:
1. Advertising performance
2. Responder Demographics
3. Responder Profiles
This data can be sliced by weekly, monthly or all time increments. This is a manual process and it will not wow any users; but it is very nice to have access to this data none the less.
While this is a step in the right directions; it is a baby step. Advertisers are used to seeing more visual and graphic reporting tools such as the one from Google Adwords (Urchin). It is critical for advertisers to be able to visually slice and dice the data sets in order to include these reports in their regular weekly advertising reporting presentations.
I suspect that it might make some sense for facebook to purchase a small reporting analytics company that has a more robust visual offering. This is exactly what Google did.

The one thing that adwords does not have that facebook does have no is psychographic reports. It is pretty cool to be able to see who is clicking your ads by age, sex, common interests, favorite TV shows, movies, books and music, etc. It is definitly a step in the right direction for facebook. Hopefully with these improvements we will be able to make even more money on facebook.

if in fact fb is serious about make money on ads they have a lot of work ahead. while fb ads are better then myspace myads in terms of budgets and targeting, its no where near as robust as adwords. i hope fb folks are listening in because this is a huge revenue opportunity or just another fb nighmere like “inbox”
