Google Friend Connect And Twitter Hook Up. According to the Twitter Blog: “Google included Twitter in their Friend Connect program which means folks can stay connected with their Twitter network on web sites that have activated the service. This particular integration did not require effort on our part so it was a quick win for folks who use Twitter and want to connect on participating web sites.”
Part of the reason that Twitter did this first with Google FriendConnect versus Facebook Connect is that the integration process is very straightforward and really required very little resources to make it work quickly. This essentially means that now Twitter account holders can use their login ID on any other site that is also also integrated with Google Friend Connect. It also means Google account holders can use their Google account ID to sign up for Twitter.
The Official Google blog noted that the Twitter integration as a way for Twitter members to use their Twitter accounts across the different sites on the web that also use Friend Connect. Google noted: “This means that when you join a Friend Connected site, you can choose to use your Twitter profile, discover people you follow on Twitter who are also members of the site, and quickly tweet that you have found a cool website.” Now there is yet another reason for websites to integrate Friend Connect to quickly add another social layer to their offering.
All in all this is good news as this means that the value of your network and social graph from twitter now has legs and will expose when other members of your network are also on other sites. This merely increases the value and portability of some of your twitter relationships to other website. This is good for Google, good for Twitter and good for users.
Twitter has also stated that they will eventually implement Facebook Connect which is similar in functionality down the road as it will take some time to build out the integration. Read Write Web also has some good thoughts on this news.

I love Twitter and Google, I just wish Facebook had better customer service, and then I would love them too.
