Twitter Releases New Widgets That Are Way Cooler, And It Just Might Be The Pathway to Revenue

Twitter Releases New Widgets That Are Way Cooler. Earlier this evening twitter just released a series of 3 newly skinned widgets with increased functionality and a much improved design.
The new widget design lets you customize the height and width of the widget so that you fit it nicely into your blog or website. They have also added a nice profile pic of the user as well as showing how many followers that person has.
Additionally it allows you to follow the person directly from the widget which is a really nice feature and will actually help many users increase their followers since it is so simple to follow now. You can also grab the widget directly from the link on the footer. It also allows people to create an account directly from the widget. Can you see the velocity of twitter growth doubling in the next few months via this widget as the discovery and member recruitment pathway? I can and I believe it will do just that.
The other nice feature is that you can actually favorite a tweet right from the widget.
This widget is a great brand expansion tool for twitter that will help move its audience beyond bloggers to blog readers (i.e. the general non blogging public)
Oh yes, and pesky revenue question that keeps coming up about how Twitter has none. Well once they have real estate on 5-10 million blogs don’t be surprised to see ads being served in the footer of this widget in 6-9 months. It is exactly what YouTube does.
You can get the new twitter widgets here.
p.s. They are so new and fragile they still have bubble wrap on them and are breaking a bit. That is what happens when the product just launched hours ago.
p.s. There was no release embargo on this so i just chose to break the story. ![]()

EXPECT MIRACLES!
I was updating my new blog and was going back to the twitter page a couple times looking for the badges… then, all of a sudden I went back and the pretty ones were there. So much nicer.
Loves them.
Awesome! Love being able to follow the person directly from the widget. Thx!
Really nice widget. Looks really good and will probably be adopted by users/bloggers very quickly. A really nice work.
AWESOME WORK FROM TWITTER GUYS!! Thanks for the post!
Thanks for the heads up - a great improvement on the old ones: better looking and more functionality.
btw - the widget does not load in ie7
